Correct steel lug nuts for alloy wheels?

What is the correct steel lug nut to use on Fuchs alloy wheels for the 1984 Porsche Carrera 3.2? I have alloy lug nuts and want to replace them with steel lug nuts.

Thanks, Mark

M14x1.5 w/ R14 ball seat

Rennline is a good source/Pelican carries these too

Ti is a nice alternative, if a bit expensive

What came on the car from the factory? The aluminum lugs? I assume steel is desired for cars that see track time?

Most racing organizations require the use of steel lugnuts (so they can verify full engagement of the threads).

PCA, along with most race organizations, requires steel (or Ti) open lug nuts.

The fact is that the stoc mag or aftermarket aluminum closed end nuts will hold the rims on just fine, but with closed nuts cars can't easily be checked on grid or when wandering the paddock to see that the nut thread engagement is up to spec, what with aftermarket rims and spacers changing the needed stud lengths. In addition, the constant buzzing of nuts off and on with all that tire changing, using an impact wrench (or even not using one) will twist the light metal closed end nuts - especially aluminum aftermarket ones.

Buy a couple of spares, just in case. Even if you never need them, some other driver may. Not an expensive item.

Trust Bill V to know the ball curvature spec. If ever you have to insert a rim's stud holes, you need to specify that, and now I have it written down for reference. But the VW or other speced nuts will have the right ball.
