				coil to dizzy wire resistance?

What is the stock resistance for the HT coil wire from the dizzy to the coil? Mine currently reads 1K ohm. I did a search and found the plug wires should be 3k to 4K Ohm but what about the coil wire? BTW the CDS seems good and the coil checked out if you remove the coil wire according to the haynes manual. I'm suspecting the coil wire now for the lack of spark.

Tim, They can be either zero or 1K Ohms ... depending on the distributor connector. Sounds like you have the 1K Ohm flavor.

hmm...sounds like it's not my wires then. (They do look newer) What is the output to the coil supposed to be? I am hearing a whine from the CDS and it pulls 1.0 amps when the ignition is on. The Coil has about 0.5 ohms across the low tention lead to the ground and 600 ohms from the LT lead to the HT lead (minus the coil wire)

take a spare off a tractor. LOL. resistance readings are usualy per foot. your sounds okay. pull the booty back and check for green fuz. make sure your wire bottoms in the cap then slide the boot down. the beru connectors need to have the air burped out of them also. when you get it fired up, i expect to see smoke signals fromm the other side off the hill.

Tom, We took the same wire off our tractor (50's vintage) and it read 0 ohms. That's why I suspected the coil wire. Booty? the top of the coil?

the rubber boot on each end of the coil to dizzy wire. mine put a timing light on the ht lead from the coil to the dizzy and see if you have anything there. you could at least narrow it down to the cap and button or the cd and coil problem.
