Does the Oil line oil cooler work?

I'd like to get my 2.7L to run a little cooler and saw that there is a finned cooler that replaces the hose between the oil tank and engine. Does it work?

I believe you are talking about the cool collar...if you're having issues with high temps, I doubt this would be a fix. Nothing beats the fender mounted setup for around town driving and light track use.

Or, the cooler that replaces the S hose. From what I recall reading here, there isnt much airflow, or surface area in that area. You might see a slight improvement, but nothing major. I dont have first hand experience though....

This (and the cool collar) have been debated extensively on this board. The guy who makes them made bold claims, everyone argued that he was FOS, and a good time was had by all.

Search "cool collars cousin" you will find no bold claims by the maker , no one said he was FOS and most had nothing but good to say about the Compact Cooler. Maybe "all bling, no zing" ought to do his homework before he posts. Jerry

I would think it almost has to work to some degree, how can adding a additional heat sink be a bad thing? You can argue that it does not see a good air stream,is too close to engine heat, but when the car is moving there has to be a certain amount of air flowing past this.I have been wondering how to make one myself.Just my 2 cents!

I used one for a while, although I had to remove it to make room for my headers. I never got a chance to do any rigorous testing, but will be looking to see if it can be reinstalled with my currently cooling setup down the line. Like rfuerst911SC, I can't see any way it can make things worse, and it's down in enough air where it would have to do some good. The question is, how much?

I'm sure it has to help some but you'll need to do more to really bring temps down. A fender mounted Lemke cooler brought temps in my SC down around 20 degrees and drilling holes in the headlight bucket and valence got them down another 10 or so.
