McMaster has an assortment of captive nuts - https://www.mcmaster.com/clip-on-nuts.
These are known to seize up over time, so you may be drilling out the screw head one day.

THAT is the source I was going to recommend. Use them all the time very reliable, deep inventory, and fast delivery.h

If its important or helpful, I can dig up the part number off the parts I got from the dealer for you.

Try Belmetric,
would these fit ?

Nope, those won't work in the tail light housing application. Those cage nuts are designed for relay racks and cabinets where they clip into the smallish (a bit over a quarter inch) square holes.

Thanks. Will try local dealer first and then order if needed. Went to Fastenal and other bolt places and all closed because of July 4th - good for them of course but bad for me ;-)

This is where it's nice to have friends close by that seem to keep lots of extra parts in the garage. I have a bag with six of them sitting here, as I try to buy extra of the parts that seem to be a bit unusual or awkward to locate easily and that aren't super pricy. I'd give you a couple as as you seem to be in a hurry, but Calgary isn't exactly close to Texas... ;)

Yea, that would be difficult to do but appreciate the offer!
