SC Battery cables Q

I am chipping away while enjoying the SC that was put on the road for Dad a while back.

One of the items that I have had on the list is cleaning up the frunk area with a few things: one of them being the battery cables; and battery.

I am replacing the POS battery I purchased years back to turn the engine (and use for "now") with a AGM group 48 from a dealer that sells Deka and Delco batteries.

While I am in there, I am going to put a new cleat in to actually hold the battery in place correctly, rather than use what I tried to fab-up some years back that seemed to work OK, involving a tension/belt system.

In addition to the battery hold down, I am trying to determine if I should grab some cables and top-mount terminals (plus a quick-disconnect connection point so that I do not cook the batteries between summer drives).

My question is: I've seen a number of different styles of cables and top-mount terminals; and I have seen a fair number of fellow pelicans run what appears to be a braided (flat or round) for the negative side/ground cable for the battery.

What is "period correct"?
Where can I find one of these braided copper ground cables for the negative side?
Are there any advantages to running a bare copper braided wire on the ground side?
I am sure that I will be able to gain a minimum of 35.22HP as a result of using such a fancy ground cable...

You’re looking for 911 611 899 00. It looks like Pelican has gone to the insulated version, but eBay or dC Automotive will have the braided bare copper one. I can’t help with what the advantages would be of the original one.

Only advantage of the braided cables is you can watch them turn black and then green as they oxidize.
