Porsche Crest Converting to Manual Windows

I want to convert to manual windows (as I have a window regulator that keeps blowing fuses, and I'd much rather have manual windows anyway). From a forum search I've seen several people going the other way, and one or two posts about converting to manual windows, but never any details.

Has anyone tried this and succeeded? If so, is there a guide or pictures anywhere?

Thanks for any and all help.
Chad

it's a bolt in. all the holes are there. new door panels needed is the main problem. 80 on have different regulators and lower glass channel, so stay with earlier parts.

Okay, thanks for the info. I have new interior door panels ready to replace my current ones that are out of shape (no holes cut).

I'll dig around pelican and see what I can come up with for parts. Are the old assemblies something somebody else would want to buy? They work (the right door is a little weak, but works), I'm only removing them as there is an electrical short on up the line and I'd rather just have manual windows in the long run. The simpler it is the harder it is to break I guess.

ill bet you can swap somebody with manual windows. Im sure somebody here is looking to update to power. Im like you...and i am considering going to manual windows as well. Keep us posted. If you document it well...maybe it could be presented in the technical doc/howto area of the website. I think that each motor, new, is about $130 so i think you might be able to sell yours, along with the door vinyl and power window switches, to offset some of the project costs. Might be a good time to look at the RS door panels. Good luck.
