3.2 carrera bumpers front and rear on 1981 SC?

Hi guys,

i have an 1981 SC with fake RUF bumpers, and thinking about going back to stock look.
i have a deal on complete front and rear bumpers from a 3.2 carrera (incl. all the rubber stuff, washer nozzle holes and foglight holes + bottom rubber lip),

would this fit without too much hassle? i've got a stock exhaust, stock flares, and the front lights in the RUF bumpers should be OEM lights (incl. foglights).

cheers, Jan

But the washer nozzles have no place on a SC

thanks guys,

it needs to be fully repainted, so should not be very difficult to delete if i choose to.

i am also thinking about 1986+ rear reflector with built in rear foglights. (foglights are mandatory here in Belgium, and also quite useful in...ehh, fog ) At the moment, i have a rear aftermarket foglight mounted on the rear plastic replacement panel (no reflector), and it is butt ugly.

cheers, Jan

Hey Jan,
Selling those Ruf bumpers?
If in good condition and priced right, I might be interested.

Are you on PF.be as well?

hey Geronimo,

they're not great no damage both front and rear. I also don't want to spend money repairing/refurbing these bumpers (not real RUF), that's why i'm gonna put some money into OEM stuff.

haven't been on porscheforum in years now i think nothing personal, just never been regular there.

technically, yes.

though be aware at rear for tow hook drill:

SC has the bore in left rubber strip for the hook.

carrera 84 onwards has the bore near license plate with a rear side welded threat to it

If your also taking the front lower valance with integrated fogs you will need the washer fluid bottle from the Carrera as well

You might also consider using a higher power red light source in the left reverse light location and wiring it to work as your rear fog light.

There were a couple people that wanted to do that with Spoke's bright LED light replacements. He can make the reverse lights with the red LEDs if you wanted something like that.

yep, but i need to read up if this is legal in Belgium. Foglight needs to be in a very specific spot. And seeing that we have a new oldtimer technical inspection every 2 years from 2020, it needs to be correct.

wiring-wise: i've got no problem because there is a dedicated rear foglight wired up in my car, but as i said, it is mounted buttugly.

ok, the edge of the foglight needs to be distanced from the brakelight at least 10cm...so that's a no go. I think that's also the reason why the foglights on the 1987+ carreras are not on the edge of the reflector, but placed a bit more in the middle.

Unfortunate it wouldn't meet regulations. It's a good idea and makes an elegant solution to purchasing the expensive later reflector panel with the built in fogs. But the factory Hella fog hanging below the left side bumper doesn't look too bad.

I appreciate the clean, and more visible look, off the later integrated fog lights but I also like the old Hella Fog Light hanging down under the bumper of my Turbo-Look.

It looks, 60's racing nostalgic, to my eye.

I was lucky enough to find the pre-existing wiring and able to source a two position fog light switch.

A relatively easy install and very bright even in daylight. A small insurance policy against the texting behemoths in my neighborhood.

You could get headlamp washers on Turbos of that ear or earlier, so what's to worry about (unless you show your car in picky concours de elegance).

yeah, my car gets driven. no concours for me!

yep, foglight next to exhaust pipe under the bumper is the way to go for me. The reflector has been ordered. This will be step 1:

That's my thread; it's here
Rear fog light install- a new approach, some help needed

And no, it won't meet a 10cm spacing regulation.

In better news, will be visiting East Mayo-Country (the Ardennes) next weekend with a Slovenian friend to pick up some beer and chocolate and visit some cemeteries. Will be on the lookout for fast-moving cars with no rear foglights.
