What is the plug next to shift coupler??
Hi there,
I'm getting ready to drop my engine and transmission for the first time. When disconnecting the shift coupler, there was a 2 pin plug next to the coupler. Is this the reverse light connector? I know I need to disconnect the reverse light switch to drop the motor and trans, just don't want to keep looking for something I might have already disconnected. Sorry, car is a 1979 911sc |

Electronic Speedometer connector. Disconnect it on the trans and leave the plug alone.

Electronic speedometer wire connector.....

I prefer to disconnect the speedometer wire harness @ connector. That’s the reason they had one in there. Take a search about engine drop and take note what people do regarding the speedometer wire disconnect. Tony |

Back up switch comes from the 14 pin engine wiring harness.

To each his own. I’ve dropped countless engines and most people I know disconnect the sensor end. No worries, either way works.

Inside the tunnel by the shift coupler is the speedometer connector. Undo it there or on the trans.
Outside the tunnel on the transmission is the reverse switch. Leave it alone if pulling engine and transmission together, unplug it if separating and dropping just the engine.

Bell crank ball joint.......

Focker, Take a close look at the ball joint connection. Some of these have the spring lock to prevent from popping out. If you have the spring lock, simply pull it off and pry the ball joint out. Tony |
