1973 Carpet Install Sequence
Hello,
I am looking for guidance on the install sequence of the carpet pieces for my 1973 911T. Is the layout in the photo correct? Can anyone with experience possibly assign a number to the pieces with the correct install sequence? Thanks for any help! ![]() |

Dont think it matters much as long as the nice edges are on the outside and rough edges are tucked under. I put down some sound insulation first. Makes it a bit nicer.

I'm wanting to do that on my '73 too. There are tons of posts & tips but I'm not clear on how many really relate to the LWB cars...
There was also a guy who used a 'green' adhesive and saved his liver... 2 things I think I recall... 1. work from back to front 2. the door pockets are tricky |

I bit late, but this was a sequence I found somewhere. It helped and it does matter which you do 1st if you don't want to end up redoing it a couple times.

Where did you source your interior?

This is late to the game too, but for anybody with the carpet sequence question later on, this might help.

I did this job last year. Real PITA. The sequence in the drawing above is correct, although you can deviate a little where the pieces don’t overlap. Also, the front panels with the map pockets may be in pretty good shape. I left mine alone, and figure I can replace them later if I get motivated. There’s only about an inch of overlap between that piece and the piece along the side longitudinal.
You will need to use a heat gun liberally to mold the pieces around the bends and curves. This is the part that’s a PITA. And you’ll get blisters in your fingers from pulling and stretching the carpet as you heat and fit it. |

I did custom carpet last year and used snaps where I could instead of glue. so much easier to access the tunnel etc as a result
