Dyno day
Last time i put my car on the dyno it laid down 182whp at 5790rpm. Operator lifted at 6400 or so.
This was with Triumph T595 Daytona ITbs and AEM infinity. Factory heat exchangers and a GLH 1 in 1 out. Motor is mostly factory stock except for a lighter crank and rod setup from a 2.7L. Used '83 small port heads and 9.3 comp CIS pistons. Stock cams too. Since then I've installed used BBE heat exchangers and a Dynomax 17231 muffler with 2.5" piping, Fidanza alum flywheel and alum pressure plate. Today with the additional items it laid down 203hp at 7330rpm. See the red line below. The blue and green were hotter runs where some heat-soak occurred. The single fan being used wasn't really aimed at anything. ![]() I mean really, not much of a surprise. Power moved up the rev range and I gained ~20whp. I do wonder if the engine speed was off on the dyno. The tacho was only getting to about 7k but the dyno was registering 7700 on one of the runs. I don't recall exactly, but I think I have the AEM rev limit set to 7500 or less so something is off and the dyno operator doesn't think its his Dynojet. I guess i need to get out the laptop and confirm. Anyway, I had this 200whp goal in my mind because i mean, ****. I've done a fair amount of work to my Porsche and would like to have more power than a 1.6L Honda! Goal = Achieved! It looks like the hp curve might still have some useful revs in it if i wanted to go to 8k rpm. I have upgraded rod bolts and there are no signs of valve float in the graph so i think it might be safe to 8k. What do you think? Here is some audio of the dyno run. you can get a good idea of what the Dynomax sounds like. Everyone agreed, it sounds like MUCH more than 203 whp! At least 310 which is what really matters in a street car.

A nice flat torque curve, which is always good. And > 200hp at the wheels is a nice number for sure.

I was going to say that a 7300 RPM hp peak seemed too hi for stock cams. I’d guess the dyno was indeed off by a few hundred RPM.

So i checked my tune and the main rev limit was set to start at 7200rpm. So either the ECU is reporting inaccurate revs or the dyno ignition pickup was picking up something else, noise maybe from the coil signal wire for cyl 1 that the alligator clip was hooked to? IDk. But i don't think we were winding that think to 7,700 rpm on that blue run.
Any dynojet experts have any guesses?

Great results.
You can just tell by the sounds, that's not 7700 rpm...
