John, Good point, but I think of this is as more of a BBB-type thing, or checking the court records on someone. You are pretty much only checking for complaints. If there are a lot, you stay away.

Still, there are positive comments on M.M. here somewhere, I think that there is one guy in the world who they accidentally built a reliable motor for, and he posts here. Sort of the opposite w/ Timmons on this board, a bunch of satisfied customers and then Todd. But I still think that it sucks if you got hosed, Todd, but it is srange. Jack, like others here, got a motor and install kit that he can run in "BBI through BBIIX" w/ hardly a burp, and you got swindled.

For me (and many others) it is old news and I shouldn't bring it up. From the wallet perspective yes it sucked and I felt swindled. From my own personal perspective I was lied about multiple times on this BBS and accussed of "skipping town" whilst owing money, THAT was really bullshat and made me furious. While most on the BBS don't personally know me, I don't want anyone to think I skipped town while owing money, whether I know them or not.

I have done business with many others and not had any issues whatsoever. Tre Motorsports - Outstanding, Pelican - Excellent, PMS - Very good, Rennsport Systems - Outstanding, Smart Racing - Very Good. The list goes on and on.

Then there are companies that have excellent products and weird or non-existent customer service, like Fabspeed. (my own experience)

The bottom line is this, the Pelican BBS members can be fickle when you have a different opinion than the majority. We all have opinions and each is a little different than the other.

IMHO when someone chooses litigation as their forum to resolve issues, then the parties involved should be prohibited from using this, or any other BBS, to comment on the matter in controversy or on the parties involved in the litigation, directly, or by innuendo.

While everyone is entitled to an opinion, personal attacks within threads should never be tolerated, and threads that contain same should be deleted. Exchanges of this type only cheapen the board as a hole.

Your honor I would like to introduce into evidence as exhibit 911 a print out from the Pelcian Parts Tech board were my client was publically defamed and damages in his reputation by being called an "over-moderating rich boy pie hole."

That is certainly some overwhelming evidence!

I wouldn't want to challenge that exhibit.

Kevin: THAT was a good one. I'm on the floor . . . no really I am

Paul: Funny thing about a cause of action for slander . . . the slanderous words require publication . . . . . I think that a BBS would qualify as publication . . . maybe that's why the contents of certain threads mysteriously disapear weeks after the fact . . .

BTW . . . how's the car running (Thomas great diversion tactic).

why do sheep farmers wear tall rubber boots?
so they can stick the sheep's back legs in them, so they can't get away.

So I notice that John Walker has chimed in on a 3.6 conversion thread so I pounce on my keyboard only to get a lesson on animal "husbandry".

Things slow in Seattle, John?

You guys are killing me, i think we all have the right to freedom of speech, the problem is sometimes people think its bs, i have dealt with many companies buying Porsche parts and have found that in general all are pretty good, thats if everything is right when you recieve the product or work. The problem usualy lies after the sale, lets use Jack for example he has done p-car business with alot of people and has been fortunate not to bump into the one that screwed him after the sale. im glad that hes been that lucky, it always seems that you bump into the person that woke up pissed after a hang over or what ever and all the buyer usualy wants is a little respect and the product or labor corrected. I have spent thousands correcting 100 dollar mistakes with customers, and some where lets say aholes, but most sellers are willing to fix things, but the day that someone wakes up pissed at thier wife or what ever yuo the buyer will become the lucky person to get the stuff,,,,, in turn that seller sucks to you and he should, Kevin

Well, it seams that human nature has taken hold of the BBS and given it a good shake. Take a look at the list of topics.....there are at least two on the first page that are targeted towards the BBS itself. This is an area of free speech, it just depends upon who wants to listen. "You are only a leader if others follow other wise you are just a lonely soul."

At some point we all get swindled....for some it is a little for others it is a lot, and that again is relative to what you earn. Learn from these.....ask questions......get information.....but more importantly get over it! Attacks on services or individuals discredit the attacker not the victim. There is enough information and help available on this board to get out of issues, the aim is not to drag everyone else into it.

Is it possible that we can all collectively not respond to such provocative postings.......I predict that people will start to go elsewhere if the current trend continues.

Sad that I even put finger to key for this!
