Alternator Sizing
I am having a bit of trouble getting the fan and crank pulley to align correctly. The fan housing is a 901 101 106 5R, as is the fan. I believe this is from an older T, maybe circa 72-74 or so. Current engine is a 2.7. The alternator, which I suspect to be the problem, is a Valeo A14N11, brand new. The fan sticks out from the housing, such that the belt will never align correctly. Basically, the alternator is too long from the mounting face to the pulley face. I want to get the proper alternator, but I want to make sure I am getting the correct part.
I still have the original SEV (I think) alternator, but it needs rebuilding, and it also needs to have an internal regulator. I am going to check its fit and length tomorrow. Anyone know what the alternator dimensions were through the years? TIA Pat

I believe the 5R housing has 2 depths based on the alternator amperage.
