Can someone explain this torque spec to me?
Never seen one expressed like this. This is from the shop manual.
does 120 +20 mean something different than 140? Ive seen torque to a certain number and then an additional degrees of rotation but that does not seem to be what this is. ![]() |

That is an odd way to express. I think they are saying 120Nm +20/-0. So anywhere from 120 to 140 is acceptable.

You are exactly right Walt. I have seen spec's like this in our engineering industry.

Perhaps that means exactly what it says
(120 +20Nm) or (87 +14Lb /ft) and should be interpreted as no lower than 120, or 87

Thanks everyone.
Just seems like a strange way to list it. |

The part that I was always curious about is the amount and type of oil to add to the strut housing after installing the cartridge. From what I have been able to find, it is to aid in cooling the strut, but I have never seen the specs on type and quantity.

It's fairly common for specs to be expressed this way. They idea is that you can't go below the amount shown but you can go a little above.

From the 70s factory manual.
12-14 mkp = 120-140 Nm, not precisely but close enough for Porsche to express in round numbers. ![]()
