Front Strut Mounts

Anyone else replace these as a wear item? I have the originals but since they are 32 years old I'm wondering if they help with ride quality and handling...

Any rubber bushing will wear in time... especially after 32 years.
From a priority point of view, the top strut mount bushings are the least "important" compared to other bushings for good handling.

You get two-piece inserts on the market to refurbish the mount after cutting out the factory one-piece rubber.

Taking the mount out though will require a re-setting of camber and toe.

Right, so I think it becomes a "while you are in there" replacement. I wouldn't replace these by themselves without replacing the rest of the rubber bushings on the A-arms, but while you have everything apart it would be a good time to replace the upper mount.

Likewise if the upper mount has obviously failed, then you probably would replace the rest of the rubber bushings since they won't be far behind and you can then do a single re-alignment.
