How to ID struts
I have a 1979 911sc that has Carrera front struts, Borge I believe. I am thinking to upgrade to Bilstein inserts. But I do not know what year struts I have.
The person I purchased the car from in 2007, would build a car from whatever parts he had available. When I went to put new calipers on I found out the SC ones I purchased were not thick enough, a pleasant surprise upgrade. The struts are black and have a blue round sticker on them. They look to have extra brackets on the for some brake thingie. is there a part number somewhere on the strut. dog |

There should be numbers stamped on them like this one. The one on the right is a new Boge strut with a Bilstein insert. In the middle of the strut in this picture you can barley make out where the stamped numbers are.

Yes, the Carrera struts have a brake pad sensor that mounts to the strut. Trackrash is correct about numbers should be on the struts. Sorry but I can't get to my car now to check out the numbers location.
