Brake Fluid Supply Line Connection Tips?

This is my first foray into the Porsche restoration world. I am in the process or restoring a 1975 911S. I am struggling getting the Brake fluid supply lines connected to the Master Cylinder. The biggest issue is lack of space to work in. Questions I have:
1) Does the Grommet go into the MC first, then push the flared end into the grommet or do you slide the grommet down around the flared end once it is seated fully into the MC?
2) Do you use any lubricant (maybe water since it will dry) to push the line through the grommet (or grommet over the line)?
3) Do you attach the supply lines first, then mount the MC to allow for more room to work?

Any tips and tricks would be greatly appreciated to accomplish this task. I am trying to avoid removing the Steering Rack and suspension cross member...

Thanks in Advance,
Luciano

Can't remember on that car as it has been many years since I would have done that specific job. I am pretty sure I would leave the grommets in place and push in the line. Any number of good 3m, Wurth lubricants, and don't worry about contamination. You will have to get some angled pliers with some rubber pieces to grip the line and force them into the grommets. That is as I remember. Bob

Leave the grommets in place. Put a really small coating of silicone paste inside them. No blobs, just a coating. Leave the MC loose on the studs with the nuts just started on the threads and hanging down as much as possible. Grab the line closest to the bulkhead with needlenose visegrips and work it all the way into the grommet. Tighten the nuts and do the other line the same way.
