Reviving this thread.
Has anyone installed one of these yet? Either the stealth or the CF/Ti unit? |

I almost bought one recently. I ended up going with the Wevo unit as it has been proven by plenty on here. I would have loved to get this - it just ticked all of the boxes for me, but just didn't want to spend all that money and not be happy with an unproven product.

I have the Stealth version, it came on Wednesday. I haven't installed it yet. The fit and finish is the highest quality. The shift lever slides into the knob smoothly with zero play. When you pull the knob off, there is a slight pop. If you're at all familiar with fine cabinet making you have probably seen drawers the fit so well there is poof of air as it is closed. It is like that. Maybe a thou of clearance. Beautiful.

Do not overlook the fact that this kit includes a $200 apex shifter joint .

Stomski anything is aerospace quality stuff. As DanJ said, I’d buy with complete confidence. ChrisHoover, please post up your review after the install.

As a data point (or hearsay depending on your purview!), Kurt at Marque Motors in Portland, OR recently installed the stealth in a 915. His words: "made it feel like a G50."

Yeah boy, let's hear the review.
btw, talked to Stephen at Stomski yesterday and no shifter for the 930 gearbox yet but possibly in the works. Apparently too small of a market segment.

Before I can install the shifter I need to machine the base. It needs a slot for the heater lever.
Here is the sifter in situ ![]() Here is the Stomski base ![]()

Circling back and closing the loop on my thread...So i installed the Stealth Stomski shifter which is the aluminum shifter, not the CF unit, as well as the Stomski Shift Coupler. And the verdict is -- I COULDN'T BE HAPPIER. Those who've dealt with Steve were absolutely correct. Steve was great to deal with. Great customer service and responded to all my general and tech questions. He's an enthusiast and passionate about our cars. The shifter has totally transformed the driving experience. Weight and spring load is perfect. Feels like a modern transmission. It's a great, high quality piece. Very very happy customer here. Couldn't recommend it more highly. Get it and you won't be sorry.

Jonny sorry what do you mean by transfers spring tension to the transmission and in what way is this detrimental or need to be remedied? thanks

Interesting. Any more real world experience? Perhaps from someone who's had a Wevo?
I think the real question is, how much better is it (and in what way) than a Wevo/Renn setup with all the fixins. I had a well-adjusted Wevo setup with all but the internal fixins, and it was still very much a 915 (awful 1st, decent 2nd, great from 3rd to 5th). Considering the fact I sold a 915 car to buy a G50 car due to the transmission, I would say $2k would be a serious bargain if the shifting were dramatically improved. If the best it can do is center the stick well to avoid money shifts, that's not particularly compelling over existing solutions. |

On the stock shifter you must move the shifter against spring tension (built into the shifter, not the transmission) to get it into 5th gear. The force of your hand shifting into 5th compresses the spring, and once in gear there is a tab on the shift lever which goes behind another tab on the shift console. The spring tension is "captured" by the tab and none of the resulting force from the spring is transferred to the shift rod back to the transmission. Both the Seine Gateshift and Secret shifter perform a similar function in 1st and 2nd gear. My issue with the WEVO shifter (and possibly the Stomski one but we can't yet be sure) is that it is essentially equivalent to holding pressure on the shift lever at all times, as though you were pressing the shift lever towards the nuetral plane whenever it is in 1st, 2nd, 5th, or reverse. These shifters don't do anything to remove slop from the actual shift mechanism, they simply mask it. This does keep the shifter from flopping around, and this benefit does seem to improve the shifting experience for a lot of people. I question the transfer of this force to the internal mechanism of the transmission and its long term effect (if any) and it's contribution to noise, viration, and harshness through the shift mechanism.
