Question re: Replacing Rear View Mirror in '84 Carrera
Hey Pelicans:
Hoping this will be an easy one. If I would like to replace the rear view mirror in my 84 Carrera, can I just replace the mirror portion of the setup or will I need a new base as well? Thanks in advance! |

I replaced mine several years ago Myami.
It slips in and out of a half-round shoe. Be careful to source the correct mirror for the existing base......that base is glued to the point that I couldn't remove it without risking the windshield itself. It's easy, just don't pry or force anything. Our old windshields can be brittle.

My '84 mirror
Here you go, slides straight up towards the headliner.....again, be careful not to put any angular pressure on the glass.

If it sticks, and it may since its been there a long time. Maybe a bit of WD-40 and tap it gently. It'll come off.
