Thanks, guys. Today, the work was all Tyson's. He conquered a track neither of us had ever driven on.
Tomorrow, he's point man at Buttonwillow. We'll cross our fingers.

Jack,
As someone else said, pressure can have a sabotaging affect. Stay focused, keep your noses clean, and you might find yourselves on the podium's summit at week's end. Looks like they put the buttonwillow results up,
http://www.opentrackchallenge.com/results/2003/index.htm Jack and Tyson placed second to the NSX, but are still in the lead in T2 class. From the numbers it looks like they were half a second slower than the NSX, but 3 seconds faster than the 2001 BMW M3 (and nearly 7(!!) seconds faster than the guy that won the class last year). Way to go guys. Tom |

The Thunderhill results are up,
http://www.opentrackchallenge.com/r.../2003/index.htm Jack and Tyson placed second to the NSX again, but are still holding on to the lead in T2 class. From the numbers it looks like they were a full second slower than the NSX, but 2 seconds faster than the fast M3. Last years winner is in a desparate battle for last place (although in his defense, he is also entered in Unlimited 2 class, and has won every event so far). Same track tomorrow, run the opposite direction. This could come down to the wire. Good luck guys, Tom |

Has anyone been out to spectate and cheer the guys on? What's the atmosphere like at OTC?

Amazing! Jack's "31" year old car is faster than a 2002 Corvette Z06.
How much faster would BB2 be with a Varioram 993 engine?

The HP question is an interesting one, and only Jack and Tyson can really answer it, (how much quicker the car could be), but I think that they are light enough that power isn't a big problem. At least on these tracks, they are shooting out of the corners pretty good, it seems.

One of the Rennlist guys put up some pictures.
http://members.rennlist.org/dan10101/otc2003.htm www.nsxfiles.com seems to be down at the moment (and with Doug on the track at Thunderhill, probably for the immediate future). Tom |

From looking at the pictures, It seems the 2001 M3 has opted for a rather unorthodox weight reduction program to try and be more competitive
