Issue with Frunk unlocking

I have a 2004 996 Targa. It was left out in the rain over the weekend and now the trunk unlocks when I hit the door button on the key fob. The actual trunk unlock on the key fob works properly as do the buttons on the door sill of the car.

Additionally (and even more disconcerting) the trunk is unlocking on its own. It did it 3 times during my commute home last night and again today within 1/4 mile of leaving my house (I just left it ajar all the way to work).

It’s never done this before and I don’t know if maybe some water shorted out the system. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A new trunk actuator was installed about a month ago because the old actuator worked intermittently.
