Door window build up order

About to start putting window / door parts in to doors, I recall that I had problems dismantling them for the start of the reno, in order not to do the build-up many times is there an order for the components e.g. motor, felt, seals, lift arm and gear, glass............one specific item is the glass how/when does it get fitted ? Is there a how to, most videos etc seem to gloss over the glass install.

Any pointers much appreciated

Mark

Mark... posting what car, model (as in coupe or Targa) & year you're working on would be good. Also, what extent is door apart? Totally stripped?

You may be in luck .... If you have a targa: I have been putting my door together and put a little “how I did it” thread together for those of the forum who wanna take a look.

Just did mine although didn’t have the motor or regulator assembly out. After you get that in the glass goes in before the frame.

I did
Glass
Felt
Frame
Top of door trim
Moisture sheet
Door panel/speaker

Once you have the glass in you need it about half way down to put frame in and you can reach inside the door and push it slightly fore/aft to get it in the exact position needed for the frame to slide in.

Many thanks, is the glass fitted in the rubber gripper and metal holder before putting in to the door or was it pushed in to the rubber glass carrier in the door.? When does the metal glass carrier with the keyhole interface assemble to the regulator assembly. This is the bit I don't understand, details please.

Cheers
Mark

Yes glass fitted in its holder before putting it in the door. Then slide that unit into the door and onto the regulator assembly. Once it is on the regularity assembly it can have a little fore/aft motion to get it in the proper position for the frame to slide in. Also the window regulator should be about half way down when you put the glass in.
