Tire guru's... I need your opinion

I have questions regarding competition tires.

Are the Yokohama A032 and Kuhmo’s comparable?

Can I run a 245/45/16 on the front and a 255/50/16 on the back without having handling issues? I do have fully adjustable suspension.

Or should I run something like a 225/50/16 front and 265/45/16 back?

I've used both and would say they are comparable. That said, I think by using two different tires on your car, your opening up a can of worms handling wise. It depends on what your doing, autocrossing wouldn't be as much an issue as track driving. The Kuhmo's are stickier and wouldn't recommend them anywhere but the rear in combination with the A032's. Do you want to experiment with these at speed?

I wasn't really going to use two different manufactures.

I was thinking of 245 front 255 rear with the yoko's or 245 front and 265 rear with the kuhmo's.

I was more wondering if using a 245 front and 255 rear would make it handle funny since they are very close in widths? (turn in, balance)?????

The Kumohos(assume you meant V700)are shorter, as wide and lighter than the Yokes. For those reasons the Kumhos should get the nod. Also assuming you are running 8" & 9" rims minimum.

As to the variance between front and rear, that is more of a tuning issue, which is highly dependant on the weight, weight distribution, suspension, suspension adjustability, and track. If you are happy with the general composure of your current set up stick w/ it. If unhappy, in what way?

Thanks Bill,

I am happy with our current setup (7&8's with 225 & 245) however, I sourced a set of 8 and 10 ForgeLines that fit perfect and was wanting to put more rubber under our car. I think I will go with the V700's in a 245 & 265 configuration.

Thanks again.....

Slider,
The A032 is a street/track tire, and is a harder compound.
They'll last longer and get better wet traction.
If your track only go with the V700.
I think the 245/265 set up will be OK.
Wider wheels is a good idea, I ran 245/275 on a 81 SC
track car. Man, wish we could still get R1's!!!
