Wanted; Info on Mid Rise Scissor Lift Please

Looking for information on a good / best mid rise scissor lift to be used for mostly 911 air cooled. But would like the option for other usage. The model that would be most useful on 911 cars for various mechanical procedures. It has to be able to be parked over due to tight space. I can do the wood 2 x 10" to park on if necessary. I am going to be under it so I do not want flimsy. Thanks in advance for your input. Im in CT if anyone has a used one for sale.

I've thought about this in the past but never pulled the lever. Lots of info on mid-risers available.

Though the thread has tons of info, seems like there's a more recent thread on the topic. For my .02, I got the QuickJack model (Pelican sells) and love it. One of my best friends saw it and ordered his same day.

I checked with EZ LIFT car jack and though the idea is/was interesting, the owner was such a jerk, I passed instantly. Have since heard those are also impossibly slow. Others may have a different opinion on that one.

As many will say, they wish they'd gotten their lifts sooner. Me too. Best wishes.

I picked up a used snap on (wheel tronics) for $900 off craigslist years ago. You can drop engines without modifying lift and they’re very solid, twice as thick as the Chinese imports. I know a lot of guys on the forum have them.

Thanks AHudson and Dpmulvan. Does the Quick jack allow for engine out/ clutch work? Thanks again. I will look at the wheel tronics.

Well for what it's worth this is what I have. A Bend Pak 7,000 lb capacity scissor lift. Goes up for a 7 foot rise in my 8 foot ceiling garage .. Ha ! ... anyways, bought it used a fews back and will have it for the day I can actually build me a real shop but in the mean time it makes doing the standard maintenance work a whole lot easier. The unit weighs in at 2,400 lbs and when the P-car is not in the garage I just lower it and drive over the top to park my Buick on it.

Went from this years ago :

To this the Ben Pak lift :

I had the snapon/wheeltronics one as well for years. Solid and worked great. If you find one, you will not be disappointed.

I had a Bendpak MD-6XP that was great. You'll find a ton of info on lifts on this forum:

I bought the QwikJack direct and not through Pelican. While the product is satisfactory, it only lifts the car about 40". Suffiecient for my needs and ceiling height.

I had a nightmare of a time dealing direct with QJ however. I think going through PP would've been better.

I bought the harbor freight unit and I love it. I'm not a big fan of most of the HF tools but their lift is very sturdy.

I have a Bendpak LR60: https://www.bendpak.com/car-lifts/low-rise-scissor-lifts/lr-60/

Low-rise lift that goes up ~26" compared to most quickjacks that only go up ~21.

It gets high enough to get the engine in/out on a cart when you take the rear bumper off.

It was posted for cheap on Facebook Marketplace at one point which I why I got it. Had I been looking for something new I probably would have looked for a midrise that has an open center. Mine has a support bar that goes in between the pads. Doesn't matter AT ALL with an air-cooled Porsche but when I was working on my Audi it could get in the way.

I found a used Norco mid-rise lift for $850 several years ago. Excellent access to everything except the bottom of the floor pan.

I bought a Twin Busch mid rise scissor lift. I have a low 8 ft ceiling so cannot take advantage of a 2 or 4 poster. I love the TB and use it many times per week. Rated at 6000 lbs the very first auto I lifted was my Yukon. It’s not working hard with the 911.
Great customer service. It does require a dedicated outlet from the breaker panel. I had one installed for $160

Wanted; Info on Mid Rise Scissor Lift Please

I went with a Bendpak MD-6XP, purchased from summit racing and have had a really good experience so far. I had purchased a similar mid rise life made by Dunnmar from Home Depot but it had a leak in one of the hydraulic pistons and Dunnmar’s customer service was horrible so I sent it back for a refund.
