2.7'S' carb'd engine output?

Hi Pelicanites,
This is the engine I am getting from K9Handler (Smitty), my question is, I have read Bruce Anderson's manual that says this engine has 175HP, where the stock 911 (non 'S') has 155. If I take it and put SSI's and the carbs off of my '69 how much HP should I expect? No other changes.

The car is a 1975 model 911S (Built Dec 1974).
The engine is the original 911S powerplant....same engine in the Carerra that year as well.

Based on my little experience, I'd say about 185.

If you're not changing the cams/compression on the 8.5 compression 2.7 engine, is there any advantage to carbs over stock CIS?

Is CIS not included with the engine you're getting?

David, according to Bruce's 911 handbook there is, though probably not tons more HP, just a better breathing engine throughout the powerband. Yes the CIS is on the motor, and I am also considering keeping it.

Troy, are you running this similar setup? I would guess about the same, 185HP, which would be nice.

Anybody else running this configuration? I did forget to mention the Pertronix Ignitor and Carrera hydraulic cam chain upgrade that Smitty already has on the motor-

I have a fully rebuilt 1975 S engine. My modifications are mainly for durability (APR, timecerts) a mild CR increase, polished intake runners and heads, SSIs with a GHL muffler. A couple of people have suggested that my engine is making about 195 HP, mainly due to the exhaust modifications.

I was thinking that you might not gain much HP with carbs due to the CIS cams. I don't know the condition of the engine either, so I was trying to be conservative, but really, I can only guess!

My car is quite fast, and has dusted a fellow PCA guy's SC and a Mustang GT. I wish it had another fifty HP though!! Hee Hee. Now I'm wishing I did what Howard has done to his 911S- a 3.6, for probably the same money!

Well, it was completey rebuilt about 4000 miles ago, and I have driven the car when that engine was still in it, and it ran like new car.
My current motor is the stock '69 'T' engine (tired) putting out a whopping 110HP, (on a good day) so the new one at a theoretic 185 HP should hall a$$. I have been lightening the car up, and am still in the process of replacing the suspension pan, and front bushings, struts, etc.
Troy, when you say mild compression upgrade, what do you mean?
Does anyone have experience with water injection in this style setup? (carbs) It's supposed to help cool the engine, as well as increase the compression slightly...

You won't gain a whole lot, if anything with the carbs without changing the cis pistons and doing something different with the cams. The cis pistons and cams were built for emissions not power.

You WILL gain a whole lot of fun and engine responsiveness, tho maybe not hp. I have 2 cars wtih 2.7's in them one with Carbs & SSI, the other with stock CIS and SSI. The difference is night and day. You will be very happy, tho new cams and pistons will make you much happier.

Yeah, I'd sure like to know... He (K9) said that he bought the car right after the P.O. had the rebuild. The guy was a good friend of his, and he gave him a copy of the receipts, but K9 does not know everything that was done specifically. He gave me the name of the shop where it was done. I have not tried to contact them as of yet.
