78 SC Engine reinstall - need help
fellow Pelicans - well I've worked all winter on my engine fixing the oil leaks and all the "while youre in there" stuff. Now I'm about to put the beast back in - issue is I've lost some of my notes (or was bad taking them) and have a couple questions.
I've searched the forums and found a few but still have a couple I'm struggling with - either not clear (to me) or can't find. First is the cruise control - what hoses and from where go into the top two orifaces? ![]() Next is the hose that's supposed to connect here on this "T" ![]() And last (for now) is this vacuum hose coming off the throttle body (pointing with my finger) ![]() Any and all help appreciated! And yes I know - I'm stupid for not taking better notes and losing some of the ones I had!

The bigger hose nipple is a vent- it connects to a line that should be coming up from the front of your engine compartment, right near the middle.
The smaller nipple just needs vacuum- that nipple on the engine could be missing a hose that connects to the cruise solenoid, or it could be another wayward vacuum line pointing in that general direction from somewhere else, it’s hard to tell from photos- take a good look at it and imagine where things are, or just take a minute as you’re lifting the engine up into the car and check around for it. You’ll want to be sure that hose is plugged on the engine side, or you’ll have a sizable vacuum leak, as you likely already know.

Thanks Mike - so maybe the vacuum hose from the "T" in the second pic goes to the cruise control? I think I found the larger and it goes into a hole towards the middle back of the engine like you said, just vents for air.
If this is all correct - where does the vacuum line from the throttle body go? (3rd pic)

I’m not sure. I looked at some photos I took when I had my engine out last, and it looks like my cruise control line comes from the throttle body on the front of the engine (toward the bell housing). I don’t have that part above the T That you have on yours though.
I would check the vacuum advance on the distributor for the other hose- That’s my only other guess for vacuum needs near the rear of the engine

ok so I think I got it all -
the large fitting on the cruise goes to air in the middle back of the engine the small fitting on the cruise goes to the "T" the fitting I'm pointing to towards the front of the throttle body goes to the diverter valve which is part of the smog pump which I've taken off many years ago. So I'll just plug this line. Anyone else have a different opinion please let me know. Thanks, Rob
