Carrera Fuel lines - anyone replaced these parts?
So I am in the process of renewing all of my fuel lines using the parts kit from Paul Mason.
The engine bay lines are now all done. Today I have been working on replacing the tunnel lines, but have hit an issue. Basically I cannot separate the union between the tunnel lines and the hard lines that disappear up into the engine bay. I've reached my 'walk away' point for today and have left the union basted with Kroil to see where I can get to tomorrow. My question - one option is to replace both of these chassis mounted hard lines. Has anybody done this - is it a difficult route? My concern is the bit of the routing from underneath through into the engine bay. IIRC this looked very 'tight' when I was replacing the engine bay lines. After guidance - persevere with trying to separate the union or rip it out and replace the additional supply and return hard lines? TIA ![]()

Have managed to undo the union I was struggling with.
Currently scratching my head over access to the other one....

I suggest doing an advanced search for 'fuel line replacement" in the 911 tech forum. There is a lot there. Check out Leakyseal's post, it has 190 hits. Good luck, that job is a tough one, been there, etc. My hint-tie or tape the new line to the corresponding old line and slowly pull out the old line, hopefully the new line will follow it through.

I have managed to get one of the unions apart but the other has (even more) severely restricted access. Still battling with that one....

I cut the rubber line just after the union where the lines emerge from the tunnel near the shifter hole. You can then get a better access to undoing the union.
You do need the threads on the tunnel line end to attach your new lines so you can pull the old out through the front and thus pull the new one through. ![]()

Huzzah! Both unions are now undone!
I ordered an extra long 11mm spanner which saved the day, though the access to the upper union meant that I could only undo it circa 1/8 turn at a time. I think the access problem is particular to the G50 Carrera as it is the clutch hard line that causes the problem - you can see in one of my pics below that it is almost right below and very close to the upper fuel line union. Getting the handbrake cable cover out of the way is also a big help. For reference the hard line side of the union is a 17mm flare spanner. The tunnel line side needs an 11mm open ended spanner as there is no hex fitting - it simply has two flat sides. Should just be able to see that in the pics. Next step is to thread the new tunnel lines.... ![]() ![]()

I ended up getting a crow foot-line wrench and used a long extension to grab onto the line in the tunnel. I was about convinced mine was welded on. It finally let go with a loud pop, and if I had not been under the car I would have done a happy dance. I used the lines from Len, and his set comes with a barrel nut that connects the old and new line to help pull the new line through. That helps a ton.
