Pilot bearing installation 78 SC, which way do I install?

I have a new bearing and I can't remember which way to install the bearing or how deep. The bearing has a flanged end which is up in my photo. The flywheel is modified for use with a 901 trans in a 914.

So your saying the crankshaft side? Until the flange on the pilot bearing is flush?
