Wipers have a mind of their own

My wipers switch on randomly. Sometimes they cycle once and sometimes many more times. It often happens with the headlights on but not exclusively. Replaced the wiper switch but problem reoccurs. No short evident. Thinking of just removing the fuse since it never rains in Southern CA . Any ideas or suggestions?

Wiper.

M/Y not shown.

Do you have the intermittent wiper speed knob on your dash?

There are threads on windshield wipers.....frequent problem is that the self park contacts in the motor are not good....and have heard of RF interference with the intermittent system (!!).

Search is your friend....

I know you won't buy this, but do you have an after market steering wheel that has the wheel tighter to the wiper switch? Could it be the back of your hand is banging into the wiper switch as the wheel is turning?

Check the grounds for it. A marginal ground can cause very random wipers. Things like hit a bump and there go the wipers.

You didn't mention what year of a car you have as that makes a big difference.

What year car? Maybe you should put it in your signature line so you won’t have to answer it over and over with each new question.

Had similar problem with my '82 SC - wipers turned randomly and everytime I used turn signals. Turned out to be a bad ground connnection in the front near the battery.

Many wiper issues are just bad ground issues.
