Need boge / suspension help? Best way to tighten this??

Brought car into Porsche for a track inspection ( they’re free, who knew?)...

All was fine except one thing.. and it’s because they use a 4 pad rotolift.

While up on lift with the front suspension hanging, they found my right front strut / boge has unthreaded a bit or was installed wrong via the PO. He put adjustable Koni yellows in the car.

You can lift the tire up about an inch. They said to tighten it...obviously.

I never noticed this as with weight on wheels you don’t see it.

I’ve driven 4000km like this.. hard driving too..had alignment done, pulls straight and balanced.

After reading Wayne’s book and talking with my Indy, they way I understand it is I don’t have to re alignment. Just pop off the top of strut, compress, pull away from fender, get top off and re tighten...

Comments? Could a bad bump cause it to back out?

Side note, PO gave me all the parts he took off. In the suspension bag was this. I have seen that the originals had 2 kinds interchangeable according to workshop manual.

You have circled the height adjustment pin as well. Do you have a question on that?

Just that on this side with the weight pulling down it has a space. Again, weight on wheels it’s fine.

I was told a pipe wrench is needed and tighten it up. But the nut on the other side is in the cover of the boge..

So how do I tighten it with a pipe wrench once it hits the cover....

You'll need to undo the strut nut from the frunk and push the housing down little so you can push the dust cover up. You should be able to get a pipe wrench once the dust cover is pushed up. Mine got loose also and I had to tighten. I have Billstein strut inserts and it was making clunking noise when the nut was loose.

Yes!!! On a bumpy road I hear the clunk. That has to be the slop or play I’m hearing.

Ride height and alignment should be ok right? As the chamber plate is not touched?

The ride height nut is often not touching when the car is in the air and no weight on the suspension.

If the ride height is OK with the car on the ground that is fine. Measure the A-arm height from the ground on both sides. If they are equal you should be fine.

Just to confirm, if I remove the top to tighten the nut back up, re attach the top nut, alignment and height is unaffected?

I just did an alignment and ride height. That’s why..

Thx again.
