Need help finding a fitting or part number!
On my 1986 930, the threads on one of the scavenge oil pump fittings was destroyed when I removed it. One side of it threads into the pump with an aluminum crush washer, and the other side accepts a ball flange of sorts on the oil line.
My shop manual references the part as #3 but just as an “adapter”, and #4 as a “seal”. ![]() The PET I can find online doesn’t show this fitting, see below. They just list the pump as #31 on the pic below, and #40 oil line connecting to it. ![]() I’m getting blank stares at local truck/auto supplies and hydraulic hose shops. I also don’t know how to search for a generic metric adapter since I don’t know the proper nomenclature of these sort of fittings. ![]()

It is called an adapter. did you show the fitting to the hose shop? They should be able to source one. If not try McMaster Carr (https://www.mcmaster.com/hydraulic-hose-fittings/tubing-and-tube-fittings/thread-type~metric/)

AFAIK Porsche never sold that fitting as a spare part.
I have a box of old scavenge pump parts up on the racks ,when i get a chance i will look and see if i have a spare. Richard |

Cohline might make one. You can get them at belmetric. Hard to tell from the photo, but i would guess this is one of Cohline's 8157 series adapters.
See Catalog part 2, page 34 here: http://www.cohline-uk.net/html/catalogue-tooling.html https://www.belmetric.com/cohline-fittings-etc-c-1041_930/?zenid=qgh2kodeem7vqhm5i7gt88gmf6 Make sure you have the thread on the pump side identified correctly... sometimes two different threads can be deceptively similar, ie BSPT and NPT. Most hose shops will not carry these types of fittings, as they are an old DIN standard that is not widely used over here any more.

Here you can find it, but you will need to know what size and thread your fitting has.

Also thanks to Len Cummings who offline mentioned that it looks awfully like the fitting that goes on top of an 911SC fuel filter.

Adaptor size......
Ken,
Measure and post the diameter and thread pitch of the adaptor. For example: 14-mm x 1.5/12-mm x 1.25. I might have something for you. ![]() PM me your shipping address. Tony |

if you look in the 83 PET, (non turbo) it does list a few part numbers for that style "union" for the 14mm thread PN 999-099-011-02 with sealing washer 900-123-008-30, or for the 12mm variant PN 999-126-007-02 with sealing washer 900-123-116-30

Gotta love Pelican. Thanks guys. Tony that bin looks interesting. That’s a lot of years of stuff gathering!
This pic has the measurements I took. The crush washer size is definitely 14x1.5. The other measurements are of the cone side. ![]()

So it turns out this is another one of those things that Porsche would rather you not know. I got my scavenge pump parts box down and one of my fitting boxes down and did some comparisons and it turns out that you can use a fuel filter outlet fitting from various filters including but not limited to Purolator Pfc-6 or Pfc-7 or Mahle KL 21 0r KL22 filters.
The original fitting is 10 mm long where it screws in to the pump and the fuel filter fittings from the mahle or purolator are 15 mm in length and the bore in the pump is 19 mm so they will work no problem. In the picture with the fittings the short body one in the middle is from the scavenge pump, the long ones on the left are from mahle KL21 and 22 and the short ones on the right which are identical to the original fitting also came from various fuel filters. The sweet part about this finding is if you replaced the fuel filter while you have the engine out and did not throw it away you already have the fitting in the top of your old filter. A while back there was a thread about shops going out of business and the conversation eventually derailed between a few people but in that conversation i suggested a comprehensive book covering Tricks,Tips, and secrets about 911's covering everything from bumper to bumper, if that book existed this is the type of info.i was referring to. I hope this small bit of info will help the O.P and someone else down the road. Richard ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Adapter thread sizes........
Ken,
Could you check these for me? a). What size metric wrench fit #1? Does 17-mm open wrench fit? b). Test fit the flare nut (#2) to 16-mm x 1.5 bolt. It looks like you have a 14-mm x 1.5/16-mm x 1.5 adapter. ![]() Tony |

So updating here: as Len first suggested, and others have confirmed (thank you) it appears the fuel filter fitting is functionally the same. I did change my fuel filter and threw out the old one a month ago. Turns out Parts_Klassic has relocated from AZ to within 20 miles of me here in NY. I spoke with the owner who agreed to a retail walk-in sale of this fitting tomorrow afternoon. I’ll post up a side by side tomorrow afternoon. I can’t thank you guys enough. I was floundering in 1,000 page PDFs from the hydraulic places and grainger/McMaster.

So, to happily close out this thread:
The fitting on top of the turbo’s KL22 fuel fitting is basically identical to the oil pump fitting. Thank you Len. The 911SC fitting 930.110.198.00 is not the same. It is 14mm on both sides, and as Tony correctly pointed out, the fitting I required is 14x16mm. Thank you for the (3!) offers to send the part to me. Karma coming back in a good way. I now have a spare filter and don’t have to lose the weekend over this. I may be able to get the engine back in finally. From left to right - the wrong one from an SC, the old one, and the new one from the fuel filter. ![]()

Next time......
Ken,
Think twice before getting rid of things from your car. I have a small jar where I placed all my used nuts, bolts, fittings, washers, etc. And many times, I was saved by this junk jar. And I have a few of them. Tony |
