Shift Fork Jig for 915s FREE

For you hardcore DIY guys here is the 915 Shift Fork Jig pattern. This file is in the STL format. I confirmed it will work in a 3D printer.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1anvc7IQeZjnWq6Kmcosa5HHxMKN6UTxH/view?usp=sharing
This file can be downloaded and used to print your own jig. The use of this file is for personal use. No commercial use or sale of this file is permitted.

Analog version

For you analog guys...

The tolerance is + - 0.125mm.
If any of my dimensions is off, let me know and I'll make the change. I'm not sure why Autocad listed four decimals in my layout.

The black tool in the screen cap is used to align and allow the shift forks to be properly adjusted when repairing a 915 transmission.

I have created a 3D model that can be used to print the tool. The file can be downloaded from the link.

Awesome, do you know if this is available as a step file so I can have it cut out with a water jet?

Thanks

I'm not familiar with what a water jet would need for a file. I can post a DXF file if that helps. The STL file works in the control for a 3D printer. Let me know what format you need, and I'll see if I can output it.

I don't see why not. A good hard wood should work fine.

I made one for my 901 out of 1/4" thick aluminum and it worked great.

That is a setting that can be changed. Thanks for the files.

For 3D, a STEP or IGES would be pretty universal. For 2D a DXF should be fine.

I just bought a nice looking solid aluminum one on ebay for $79 shipped - now I can check the dimensions of it before I take the trans apart thanks!

Yea, I changed UNITS to metric from architectural and specified 0.000, but forgot to change the precision in DIMSTYLE. Oh well.

I don't have a way to export or convert to the STEP format. I'll post a 3D DXF later when I get a chance. Autocad exports the DXF in 3D wireframe.

Cool. You can check my measurements. I used a caliper on the plastic jig I bought years ago, so I may not have as accurate dimensions as I would like. I did do a 3D print from my STL and it looks to be as close as what can be achieved using that method.

Gordon, the old plastic jigs were notoriously inaccurate...
Inaccuracy of aftermarket 915 shift rod holder tool

Instead of checking the measurements against other jigs, compare them instead to the bores of a 915 case.

If only I had one laying around.

My hope is that if someone has more accurate measurements they can forward them to me and I can make the changes. FWIW, the plastic one I have served its purpose.

In AutoCAD the decimal places of dimensions doesn't come from the obvious Units commands. It is buried in the dimensions style in a sub-menu/option that isn't obvious. You've got to spend a couple minutes clicking around in there.

OK. I made this jig from 3/16" aluminum plate by tracing the pattern from the intermediate plate on my old 911 trans. So I cannot guarantee the dimensions are perfect. I did use it successfully several times. Dimensions are in mm.
