Cruise Control Cable Question

In working on my 84 Targa getting it up and running I notice today the cable that connects from the cruise control to the throttle linkage is broken. The end of the cable is missing about 4 to 6 inches (guess) right at the very end of the cable. Can someone shoot me a pic of the connection of that cable at the throttle linkage ?

Frank,

Thanks for the picture, that really helps me out. Yes, I am definitely missing about 6 inches of the cable end. I have no idea where it went, the end of the cable is a clean and straight break. I'm guessing I have another part on my shopping list.

Sad news, but that cable is NLA and is pretty much unobtainium. Some folks on this
forum have had good luck finding a used one on the for sale forum.
Post a WTB post there and good luck.

Some bike shops can build a new steel core cable inside the sleeved of your Bowden cable.

Don't think it will be available. See this post, the guitar string fix looks promising.
Did you make your own Cruise Control Cable: 911 617 124 04?

Is this the dreaded cruise control cable throttle hang?

The CC cable for Carrera/930 has been unavailable for some time, but it looks like Porsche has created a common version for the vacuum actuated cars ('85-'87) and the electric actuator version ('88-'89), and are offering it now. Offered here by our host now.

A common cable between the '85-'87 and '88-'89 is impossible. The '88-'89 uses
a ball end connector (like an accelerator linkage) that connects to the electrical servo versus the clip that inserts into
the vacuum servo on the '85-'87.

Just use the zip ties to secure the cable in place as mentioned in post #9.

Oh well, our host shows the one new part number for all years ‘85-‘89. Can’t tell from the photo then which years the new one is for. Maybe someone from Pelican can chime in...

I guess some are not reading my original post. I have an 84 with cruise control. My current cable is actually broken and missing about 6 inches of the cable at the throttle body end. The replacement cable is listed and available on the hosts catalog. Replies to other member comments that are not related to my post are not helpful to me. I'm ending this thread I have already gotten the info I requested. Members can start another post thread if you would like to continue your conversation.
