Help With Fault Codes???

Today we had a PPI done on a 2014 911 Carrera S we are looking at purchasing.
The car’s in PA and we're in Kansas City. The shop is an independent, primarily air cooled, shop. They “said” they could handle a PPI on a water cooled car. Clearly I’m disappointed in what I got. We spoke in the afternoon and they said the car is very very nice but it was throwing off 3 fault codes that they weren’t able to decipher. They don’t have the “Porsche” fact equip. They said they put a email out to the mfgr of the equip but haven’t heard back. I called my local shop and gave them the codes and they couldn’t decipher either as they use Porsche approved equip. So, I’m reaching out here. I don’t know the mfgr of the equip they are using, yet. Here are the instrument cluster fault codes - 4142/102e, 9774/262e and 8494/212e. ANY help would be appreciated.
TIA

If all else fails, consider having it brought to the local Porsche dealer and asking them to pull the codes. I’d be surprised if they would not do it.

This is the wrong forum for the water pumper cars. Go to the dealer, they can tell you about the car. They can pull up any history of service at a dealership, and recalls that might never have been done.

And they can read the codes.

I went to the dealer here in KC to have a car checked that I was interested in buying and the told me that since I didn't own the car they wouldn't do it.

Glen, I wasn't "sure" about posting here as I suspect(ed) you were correct. This is the first water pumper we've ever chosen to purchase (really to have something that my wife would enjoy being in) as our other cars smell like oil/fuel and ALL the other wonderful (to guys mostly) scents....kinda like marina's! Anyways, I've since found out that the codes are non-issues and the car will be on its way to KC by the end of the week. It is CPO'd thru 12/2021 so I do have some recourse if there's anything that comes up prior to that. Another plus is that it only has 4100 miles on it and the carfax "shows" it being clean BUT I don't trust them or that as far as I can throw the car.

I've heard the same thing as sixbanger, that most P-car dealers will no longer perform PPI's due to the "perceived" liabilities. Just ANOTHER thing the lawyers have screwed us on....

My suggestion since you are now a water cooled owner is to look at a Durametric, but that is limited to 3 VINs, and you need to use a computer for it. What I did is to get a icarsoft POR2. It is a standalone unit and worked on my 996 an 987. I don't know if there is a newer unit out there, but mine was under $150. I also have a Foxwell NT510 for my BMW, that can also be programmed for Porsche cars. Foxwell makes the Schwaben units our host sells.
