I actually have an '86 also. Here's what mine looks like with stripes, rocker panels removed & RSR finish on Fuchs...

Here's your car with silver stripes (to bring out the silver in the wheels). I personally prefer a satin finish on the vinyl stripes as opposed to a gloss finish. It seems to look more period correct.

Nice 86.... The exact look I am considering with 15" Fuchs..... Today a restored and updated 84 sold for $95,000. This proves well done non-original cars will also draw all the money https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1984-porsche-911-carrera-71/

RSR finish looks great..... do you have 16"x6" on the front?
Stripes look better w/o valance.... Where did you get your stripes?

Yes, those are 16"x6" on the front of my car and 16"x7" on the rear. The 6" wheels look a little shallow to me. I've been considering 15" Fuchs though. The smaller wheel diameter with a "meatier" tire sidewall (like the Michelin TB series) looks more period correct to me if you like the early RS. I love the look of the early 70's RSR's but obviously the fenders of a stock '86 aren't wide enough for that wheel and tire combination and I don't know if Michelin makes narrow TB series tires. I've got a vinyl cutter so I made the stripes myself. I'm not really in the business to sell them though. I've seen a couple of guys on here that do though. Maybe they will see this and contact you.

Have to say I'm not sold on the "look" of ultra low profile tires on air cooled 911s, yes I get the performance aspect, but look at Singer...chose to NOT go with ultra low profile tires and they are arguably some of the best looking 911s ever made. So...supersignman...do you make these decals? I think the Carrera would look good on my '88.
Holy crap, that car had 327,000 miles and sold for $95K? I don't get it.

Buck, I'm sorry but my sign shop doesn't actually sell vinyl lettering any more. I'd be happy to email you the vector file for the Carrera logo though so you could get a local sign shop to cut the decals out for you. You might want to get them to do the application also. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to apply decals but experience does help in getting them straight and bubble free.
Like I said above, the gloss of the vinyl is also important for our cars. I've been very pleased with the Oracal 970RA series matte vinyl I used as opposed to a gloss. Hopefully you can see the contrast between the reflection in the paint and the stripes in the photos below. High gloss vinyl decals can look very "aftermarket" (cheap) in some situations. I also used a product called "knifeless tape" to get the lines perfectly straight on the hood and trunk lid without having to take a risk of damaging the paint.

If anyone needs Carrera side graphics, I bought a 48 year old OEM set and have exact reproductions: Correct length, sharp cut edges and points at end of letters that are correct. I use Oracal Vinyl 951 premium vinyl which comes in 146 colors and 751 which is slightly less expensive and comes in 75 colors.
I also make the side stripes and can make custom color combinations ( letters / stripes). These are high quality products and sadly most decals sold today use less expensive vinyl that tends to fade in a couple of years. PM me if I can help |

If I had a white 911 I would sticker bomb the heck out of it. Ala Martini The black Carrera side graphics do look good on a guards red.

Is magnagrafik doing decals for non-turbo models already?
They have great looking stuff but all for widebody cars. At least for 80’s 911’s.
