Koni inserts in Boge struts ?
guessing this has been covered, but I couldn't come up with anything. (I'm sure my search abilities are suspect)
picking up the car from Roger Kraus after a full suspension set up, I'm notified that the left side Boge strut is bent. (minimum camber achievable is 3 degrees) struts are fitted w/ new Koni Sports. after sourcing another set of 3 1/2" caliper spacing Boges, I now find that the gland nut threading is on the outside (see pic) where do I source the proper gland nut for this set up ? TIA ![]()

Jason @ Paragon has the spacers.
I think the part number for the gland nuts is; 911.341.806.00 but please verify. in case you're not aware the parts manuals are downloadable from Porsche. HTH

Jason has the spacers because they are a Koni adapter part, not a Porsche part. The gland nut is a Porsche/Boge part and a lot of people unfortunately throw them away when they replace the inserts with Bilstein inserts.
Sometimes it's not a bad idea to post a Want to Buy request for those nuts on the classifieds here. You'd be surprised how many people have them in their collection of old parts. I've learned over the 20-something years of owning a few Porsches that I needed to be more selective about what I threw away after fixing something. On quite a few occasions I recall reading a forum thread of someone in need for a small part like this and thinking, "Ah crap I threw that away......." In case somebody asks, there's no readily available tool (that I know of) that fits the hex in the gland nut. Typical tool is a very large pair of channel locks or a very big pipe wrench. Doesn't have to be super tight. I have a couple of compromised Boge housing-Bilstein insert gland nuts if anybody needs one to use as a Boge nut substitute for Koni inserts. They were unfortunately air hammered off (by some other hack, wasn't me) and the sealing lip was ruined in a small spot. So they're no longer good to use with Bilstein inserts but could be a Koni substitute if they work like ty901 pictured?

Also curious.. I was told Bilstein have built in bump stops and Koni's do not. Never got a straight answer if this is only related to rear shocks or if it also pertains to the front.

For the front dampers, my experience has been the Bilstein struts have built in bump stops inside the strut housing. The Bilstein inserts, like the ones that go in the Boge housing in the picture below, have the bump stops inside the insert. That's why there's no bump stops on the damper shaft under the metal protective can.
![]() The Konis have the bumpers outside the damper and you slip them on the shaft

I found the proper gland nuts at ECS Tuning. Their part number is ES#4029674 - $20 each.

Reviving the dead really quick, so my car had the boge>bilstein HD upgrade performed at some point, looks like I will need the stock nut for the Koni's, purchasing from PP now.
Question, do the Koni inserts need fluid added? I see w the Bilstein Boge caps there is a rubber seal.. of which I melted having to heat the passengers side to get it unseized. Thanks Ian |

Unless your racing for cooling. For street car no. I didn't use any oil for my Boge struts with Yellow Koni sports
