Adding new instrument

I'm in the process of adding a Hobbs/engine hour meter to my 80SC - keep track of engine time - want it to operate when ignition is switched on - planning on tapping the radio switched power line -

Any recommendations as far of type taps go? T-taps vs the other one?

Recommendations/comments?

Why not tap onto the positive wire which goes from the fuel pump relay to the fuel pump. That way, if you listen to the radio with the engine off, or just fiddle with various electrical issues with the key on but engine off, you won't rack up engine hours (or tenths)?
