964 Broken head stud
Has anybody ever heard of 964 broken head studs as a problem? Did they use Dilavar?

Found one once. They're getting old, like the early dilivar breaks.

and that is why I asked. I have only heard of and seen them on SC and Carrera, not 964. So, I have to tear one down for a broken stud. Is there a commercially available work shop manual for the engine work? 12 spark plugs, 2 dizzies, and all.

I understand that some shops still prefer to use dilivar studs, including on race engines. Is this just a case where some shops have different preferences from others? Do even the later, fully threaded dilivars age out?

The 993 Turbo head studs (Dilavar) are the best.....they are strong and the expansion rates are much closer to the aluminum than steel head studs.

I have seen only 2 over the years, one on a 1990 tip and one on a 1992 964 turbo.
