Carbone trunk liner
Couldn’t find this in the search. Has anyone bought this carbone trunk liner? How does it fit? Is it worth it? Seems very nice but very expensive...

there was a time Car Bone was a reasonable 'other' choice but their prices have become stupid in many cases..... their profit margin must be huge.

Here's an earlier thread where SoCalSK8r talks about the trunk mats.
They're not cheap, but man they look nice in the pictures. I'm just not sure the trunk is where I want to spend my $$ http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/1071982-anybody-ever-get-body-parts-car-bone.html |
Coco matts make an excellent one piece (flat) carpet for the frunk..i installed one with snaps and its more attractive than most carpet sets i ve seen and they are great to deal with

I love Coco matts and wanted them for my '71 914-6 that just completed a full restoration. When I contacted Coco Matts they told me their original design matt is no longer available in the green that would go with my Irish Green paint. I was very disappointed. So I hope you are not looking for their original design trunk matt in that green color.

to be honest I cant recall if this was standard or I made them a template and sent for a custom carpet..about 100.00. Call them and ask for Cristi who may be able to look up my order (i cant locate the order receipt) and duplicate it for you (my 77 has a master cylinder/booster so has a cutout for that

A local upholstery shop can likely make a set for about the same price.

I purchased the trunk liner this last summer. Its 3 pieces that are beautiful made. I was able to install the side and center. I gave up on the 3rd piece. Also bought the side graphic. Quality piece, my wife installed it perfectly. (She sold fleet graphics as her business). This is on my 88 911. 25K mileshttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1607648301.jpg

Why couldn't you install the last piece?
|
Each piece has snaps to fasten in place. On the bottom one you can see a couple of brown buttons. The left side I got all of the button snapped in place the right side no matter what I tried the button snaps would not stretch to meet the snaps mounted in the body. In the summer I laid out the carpet on hot black top to heat up the material to make it more pliable a couple of times. The car has 25k california miles with all original paint-no accidents. Actually the original felt is perfect, I just stored away for some reason. No intent to sell the car.

Could you install rings or washer to extend the snap-backs further out to get that last piece to fit? The product does look very premium quality.
|
Thanks for the idea. I will look into some sort of snap extender. . I got side tracked with new fuel lines and various little projects. Plus a 356 that always has projects if you actually use it!
|
I made a liner myself. I used 5mm plywood to make the pieces, and covered it with trunk liner carpet. There are 5 pieces and they can be removed in a few seconds if needed.

That looks amazing.
|
^^^ I agree. I'd be a potential customer if you decide to market that. Don't think I could do that myself. Very nice
|
@rothaus - ^^^ Liking that rigid frunk liner a lot. Any plans available that we can get from you?
Well done! |
Rothaus, that is probably one of the best, neat & clean looking trunks I've seen, looks OE, beautiful job!
