maybe you just need a 2270 instead of a 2056! As harry mentioned, your 912E sounds pretty nice and is on par with an earlier T for hp/tq. From the cockpit/view perspective, the two cars (911T vs 912E) will feel the same.

* quit moving your hands.. keep at 9-3 or get a smaller sportier steering wheel

Hmm, I worry if I did that it'd make the E redundant? Cool idea tho'...

So now that we've got some idea of your current car, here's my latest take on it. Your 912E with a warmed-over Type IV is probably already the equivalent of a 2.2 or 2.4 T. The differences are few and mostly preferences.

• The later impact bumper body is heavier than the early cars, but that is somewhat offset by the heavier 6 cylinder engine in the 911's. So the 912E won't feel quite a light as a T does, but the weight distribution is better and the handling of the 912 (all the rest being equal) will be more neutral.

• Appearance. Longhood vs. Shorthood. Totally a personal preference. I much prefer the early longhood, so much so that I sold a 3/2 Carrera that was set up nearly perfectly for my purposes to finance buying a '72 911T project. But I know other people (mostly a bit younger than me) who really prefer the later shorthood look. So that can go either way.

• Sound. This is a big one to me. A big part of the 911 experience for me is the sound of the six in the back. You can not make a 4 cylinder sound like that. No way. A four can sound nice, but it's not the same to me.

I'm not sure from reading this if you are thinking of simply adding a 911 to your fleet, or if a 911 would be a replacement for the 912. If you want to add a 911, any T would be a good choice with a 73.5 being the best.

But if you are thinking of a 911 as a replacement for the 912, I'd recommend driving a 911 first. You may find that your 912 is already as good. (Other than the sound!)

Great comments thank you. No way I'm selling the E! The proposed new car would be an addition to scratch a longstanding itch of owning an early LWB 911. But I'm starting to think based on your and others comments (and thoughts I'm starting to have) that a T may be somewhat redundant. My thinking at this point is the T is probably a nice split between my E and my tii, so if that's the case it may be worthwhile.

Let's call a spade a spade. You want an early Porsche with a 6. Who doesn't? You have 3 perfectly great cars already but still want another. That's called addiction.

The first step is acknowledging you have become powerless over cars and that you life has become unmanageable. The second step is making amends. I'll take the M3, since I already have 2 Porsches, but only one BMW. That way you can make room for your new/old 911 that's coming and I'll have 2 of each.

We all know you're gonna buy it. You know you're gonna buy it. I'm just trying to think of a way I can get something out of the deal. : )

You poor bastard.

It's more traditional whereas the E (in my configuration) feels like a sports car. Still the massive greenhouse, sweet engine, handling and looks make the '02 a special car. Here's a pic of mine, all that said, I'll never sell it.

As far as the T goes, it'll be used for long distance drives as well as drives to work and enjoyment. No track or racing.

Nice tii! While not my desired Inka Orange, still a great color!

As noted above, at this point, you and only you will need to decide what you want to do. You have two great touring cars and an early long nose will just add to the pile.

Perhaps you need to go in a totally different (air cooled) direction :

Welp I did it. 73.5 T on the way. Prob won't be driving it for awhile as snow is already falling, so it'll go straight to my shop for tweaks and will pickup from them @ March/April.
