Harnesses-What to buy?
I am in need of harnesses for DE events. What does everyone recommend? Are Crow harnesses as good as the others or is it necessary to spend more money? Thanks for the advice.

Years ago when I purchased a harness I asked the same question.
The answer was Schroth harness. The best and I never heard of them. Now I see them in everything from Nascar to Formula 1.

I've had TRW/Sabelt camlocks and now have the G-Force camlocks. Both have been great, but I actually like the G-Force ones better (easier to adjust, etc).

All the harnesses are essentially the same functionally, the difference between a $125 and a $300+ harness is whether the hardware is light and easy to use/adjust. Higher-end Schroth and Willans are probably your nicest options with everything else falling somewhere below for the most part.

Thanks Bill. I am using a stock sport seat and Brey Krause harness bar and only doing DE events. Does that change your suggestion?

I think it was in an tech inspection sheet where I saw it, but I know it's highly discouraged (if not illegal) to have a harness with a seat that does not have the pass through holes. There is nothing keeping them from sliding around the seat and being essentially useless.

There are what are called 'tuning harnesses' that are designed for use w/ stock seats

OK....great information and this is why I ask! I am now in the market for a proper seat. I assume the same goes ofr the right seat for the instructor? Thanks again.

Most regions require equal restraints for the driver and passenger (instructor) although you might get away with it for the first event.
Cheers ! Phil

check your regional DE rules, you most of the time will be ok with stock belts/seats but if you want a harness (properly mounted), you need the proper seat and for me a hans device. Helmet that is SA rated, fire suit. Oh, then you add roll cage, fuel cell, fire system, lighter car parts........it never ends

What is the current harness to use with stock seats?
I have a rollbar without a harness bar. What kind of hardware would I need?
