MIF pump conversion to 60 space cam
I have been having difficulty in configuring my MFI Pump to function with the 60 space cam. I am upgrading a 2.4T, ,PED 6KL 60/120 R3 Y, an (015 pump), Regulator EP/RLA 1/43R and I have been using Michael Burgess’s book.
My problem is I can't get the rack adjustment set: In my earlier attempts I was able to establish the rack movements required in test (A), which are TP max, zero, 8.3 and 29.5 degrees, but the (B) values for max were way off for the 800 rpm 7.65mm compared to the specification of 7.25mm and 1000 rpm 7.82mm compared to 7.55mm. My last attempt has been a little closer. By fiddling with the cam on the compensator lever in the regulator, I was able to get the 1000 rpm result closer but unsteady, it oscillates between 7.50mm and 7.65mm. I got no improvement on the 800 rpm which also oscillates between 7.66mm to 7.71mm. On the good side the 3000 rpm setting which was high at 8.36mm is now in spec. Can anyone help me with some direction as to "what levers to pull" to get the rack settings according to spec, or suitable baseline settings for the capsule and rack screw settings that will help. I don't have the calibration specs in front of me at the moment, but are you trying to adjust to the RS space cam calibration settings?
Are you taking volumetric readings as well as rack movement adjustments? Pay particular attention to the pump setup in the book, especially the adjustment of the "stop" position of the warmup thermostat and that pivot adjustment (dimension "c" IIRC?) When I set mine up I found the black screws to be nearly all the way in, and they started to overlap/interfere with the idle adjustment so you might be wary of that. Also, there is a little cap piece/spacer that could be missing from the idle spring (the inner spring in the capsule) which could also limit your adjustment.

PS - check out page 22 of my thread: Project Heavy Metal - an all steel classic, remastered
Pay particular to every word of post 413 and also post 418 on that page. If you have the springs on the pump wound the wrong way it can cause issues - not sure how deep into the pump you are.....
