Wheel options for my 73 RS Tribute

I just purchased a 911 T (1973) , converted to an RS Tribute. It came with 14"x5.5 Fuchs

I would like switch to 15" without messing with rear wider fenders. . My option is:

Front: Braid BZ wheels (fuchs replica) 15x7 (23 offset) with 185/70 Pirelli Cinturato CN36

Rear: Braid BZ wheels (fuchs replica) 15x8 (10 offset) with Front and 215/60 Pirelli Cinturato CN36 N4

Welcome any comments or suggestions of wheels and tires, Pics welcome..

Are you converting to as RS tribute? I’m assuming it didn’t come as such if it was wearing 14 x 5.5s unless they were rollers. And the RS had wider fenders than a stock ‘73.

What you are suggesting is the perfect wheel and tire combo, as long a your 911T had Carrera flares installed on the rear.

This combo is identical to mine (although I'm on Fuchs):

w/o adding the RS rear flares any 8x15 Fuchs will be a very uncomfortable fit, in other words don't even try it

185/70 is not spec'd for a 7, they can be stretched on but I wouldn't

your best option for fit and performance is going to b 4 7x15 Fuchs which will have ET23.3 and mount in order of increasing performance 195/65, 205/60, 205/55, 205/50 tires, though performance is increased in each step of this progression each is shorter than its predecessor and as such the car needs to be further lowered both for performance and looks. Some find the 205/50 to be too low for daily use and too short for appearance sake

215/60 even on a 7ET23.3 is too tall for non RS/Carrera flared cars. They could work w/ 7 ET~30-40

Wasn't this factory fitment for many years on the front of 911 Carreras from 1973-1977 and SC's from 1978 on?

'73-75 Carrera oe fitment
15" 6ET36 & 7ET23.3 185/70 & 215/60
'76 Carrera as above w/ option 1 7ET23.3 & 8ET10.6 w/ the same tires or option 2 7 & 8 w/ 205/50 & 225/50 x15 tires
for 77 they adopted 16" 6ET36 & 7ET23.3 205/55 & 225/50, though there were some 15" ftments too and that pretty much continued through the SCs and Carreras untill the end of the Carrera run where the went to 6ET36 & 8Et10.6 w/ the same 205/55 & 225/50 x16 tires. again there were also some specials w/ 7 & 8 x15 like the Weissachs

Sure love the looks of the P7's..... and BTW that's a gorgeous car!!!

But the OD of the fronts is only 23.1"? I know they were OE fitment on early 930's but I sure which they came in a 195/65-15

Yes on early 930 but also an option on '76 Carrera

The only bad thing about 7 & 8 x15 w/ 205/50 & 225/50 is the car needs to be really low, mine was so low that my toes wouldn't fit under the front chin

The above appears to be a very nice '73RS 2.7 but the wheels and tires are not as originally delivered from the factory, oe would have been 6 & 7 x15 w/ 185/70 & 215/60

In that pic you can see how low the cars need to be, this is all great for performance but can be an issue on slope transitions and speed bumps etc.

I’m running 16x7 and 16x8 with 205/55/R16 and 225/50/R16. But loving the RSR finish on Rosens car. Plus his car is not a tribute.

I don't believe that he was referring to the later G, -J series Carreras

Only the '75-76 Carreras and same latter specials like Weissach had the 7 & 8 x15 w/ 185/70 & 215/60 option and only '76 RoW Carrera had the additional 205/50 & 225/50 option

I'm unsure of the 930s but think they got the 7 & 8 205/225 in '75

There were actually a couple of typo's that could lead to that confusion;

They were spec on a 7 and at least back then, weren't really much of a stretch. Can't say whether modern 185/70 15's would be the same.

This should be 73 and 74 Carrerra's were 6&7 and 75 Carreras were 7&8
"'73-75 Carrera oe fitment
15" 6ET36 & 7ET23.3 185/70 & 215/60"

This is especially true with the RSR plastic fuel tank. This is the issue for my ride height right now. Might be going to a center fill Euro reproduction which to my understanding does NOT hang as low as the plastic tank does!
