Replacing Reference and Speed Sensor

I have a 1988 911 Carrera. i want replace the speed and reference sensors. Does anyone know of step by step instructions (hopefully illustrated) to do this?

It is easy, if your engine is out of the car! Lots trickier with the engine in place. Still doable.

Also, "while you are in there" replace the head temperature sensor.

And to get the grommets back into position, hose them down with WD-40. They will slip right into place and the WD-40 wipes off and evaporates and vanishes. The grommets will pop right into place once lubricated.

FWIW, one of the two of mine were seized in the mount on my car. Added a little extra work. My car is a PNW car that is totally corrosion free, that sensor is the only thing that has ever been stuck on it.

Probably you already know, but the BMW branded sensors differ only by the logo on the box (both made by Bosch for their Bosch fuel injection system) but are much cheaper.

If they're seized it becomes much more of a tough job.

With the rear wheel off I thought for sure I would need to remove the exhaust duct, the shock or something to have enough room to get in there. You guys have confirmed the process. Thanks!!!!!!
