Turbo mount revisited, got to resolve this

I test fitted the new K27-7200 last night and am posative that the turbo/muffler mount is different on this '85 exhaust than my original reactors. Does anyone have the PET showing both a '77 mount and more importantly an '85 mount? A part # would be golden. Thanks guys.

I don't have a diagram, but different mufflers have different mounts. I recently put my cat-equipped (stock) muffler on the 930 for emissions purposes and was suprised to find that it had a different mount. The cat-less mount worked both for a euro muffler and my GHL setup.

I am using a monty dual out muffler. Bu I am not concerned about that so much. It is the turbo I want located correctly. The turbo can be "moved" a little when it is mounted to the exhaust and I would like to get it right if you catch what I am saying. A small movement at the turbo could result in a fairly large change in where the exhaust tips exit.

Sorry to bump, but this one is killing me. Thanks

I had the same problem when mounting the K27-7200.
Had to modify a used mount. There was no other way to make it fit perfectly. My exhaust is a Euro '86 with a (modified) stock muffler.

Ok, I will go that route I guess. I really appreciate your response. Don't worry Rarely I have not forgotten that I owe you one from last year as well. Once I get the engine in I will get back to that air cleaner housing project. Thanks again.

this is the exhaust side of an 85 turbo. does this help ?

lendaddy 04-29-2003 09:25 AM

No, that does not show the turbo mount that goes between the muffler intake and the turbo exit. Close though.

lendaddy 04-29-2003 09:49 AM

Yes! definitely #5 in both diagrams. Could you give me both part #'s? They look the same but we will see. That is awesome, what program are you using ? Is that the PET program I have seen on Ebay? Thanks again.

Joel

930.123.121.01 77
930.123.121.05 85

I should have the later one around if you need to try one

lendaddy 04-29-2003 09:54 AM

What do you need for the mount? I could definetely use it! Thanks

MyTurbo3.6 04-29-2003 09:57 AM

How about if I send it to you and if you use it we can work it out, if not you can simply send it back and cover shipping.

arrivederci 04-29-2003 09:59 AM

Keep in mind that the placement of the turbo is also dictated by your headers. And there are four connetions to the turbo...the air intake, outlet to intercooler, exhaust inlet, and outlet to muffler. All of these other connections will limit the amount of movement you can actually achieve. If you're simply worried about the muffler tips, I suggest having a muffler shop work directly on the muffler, rather than adjusting the position of the turbo via the turbo mount.

lendaddy 04-29-2003 10:05 AM

My teory is that the mount is the only "rigid" mount and if I get that right the rest will fall into place.
