Nice Jugs?
I'm breaking my engine down and am curious if these are reusable. I think they are. I thought I read somewhere about if they are magnetic they are. I still see crosshatching on a few of them. They were all replaced in 1993. The car has seen about 50k miles since then. Assuming these are reusable, how much work would it be from a machine shop to get these cleaned up and ready to reuse? AND OR is this something I could deal with locally rather than ship them off to AZ?

Tom, if magnetic, then Nikasil, which is good from a reuse standpoint.
They don't look bad. But what really needs to be done is careful measurement of the bores with a bore gauge. Porsche specifies where to measure, and what the acceptable range of measurements is. You don't want to reuse oval cylinders. If they don't measure out, there are places which can plate them and machine back to standard. |

Thanks. I'm almost to the point of measuring everything. I need to get a bore gauge asap among some other things.
