Air filter height differences

In the last two years I did a motor swap and short story there are ≈18mm spacers between the intake runners and the carb bases for heat control and intake length optimization? With the full Pmo setup and rain hats it doesn’t fit unless I run a duck or other tail. I don’t love that look but the engine is gnarly and was built by a pro with history so I don’t want to change the intake. Question is, is there any hard numbers around height savings if I swapped for r style rain hats or the like.

I run r888s so there really isn’t any planned rain exposure but it would be nice to have some protection just in case I get caught out.

I’d love not to go with foam filters if possible since I do get the occasional intake backfire.

I feel like it’s close but my math isn’t good enough to calculate the height I need to save based on the angle of the flat lid that won’t close.

I can’t be the first to deal with something like this but not seeing a lot in search.

Let me know if you’ve solved for something similar.
