Fellow traveler down the slope, with an ’87. Got this car so I could do track events. “Most fun you can have with your clothes on.” This is the weight loss thread someone mentioned earlier. “You’re welcome” or maybe “sorry” is more appropriate…

I much prefer the stock three spoke wheels over the Carrera and Prototipo wheel’s. In fact I have a fatty wheel I want to put on, but can’t find a spacer to fit a stock three spoke. Where did you find yours? BTW, your green Targa reminds me of my Ascott Green 76 Targa, similar greens, but much prefer the SC rear flares which make it look so much better. |
I have the rare aluminium lightweight version stocked away.
once you have ever mounted a 38 or 36cm diamater sport wheel you never go back to the OEM 40cm sport wheel. and once you used a dished sport wheel, like the Momo 07, you're ruined, wanting it even in your daily |
I had the Mod 07 on the car and didn't care for it. I'd love to find a fatty. We mounted the spacer
on the three spoke wheel, it took some doing. My Carrera wheel has a spacer too, I just don't like the design. The Momo looks good in the picture, but made the car feel like a toy....(I guess it IS a toy of sorts?) http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1617943796.jpg |
Some of these wheels look like the grip is made of roll bar padding?
Like you said a toy wheel. Imho the best material for a sports or race car steering wheel is suede. When it's older and gets a polished look just rough it up with a light hand brushing with a wire brush. If you get the right driving gloves you can control the suede wheel with a very light grip. Great racing glove for a suede wheel. https://store.windingroad.com/Sparco-Tide-Racing-Gloves?quantity=1&color=BLACK%20%7C%20ORANGE I also remove the rubber pads on the brake/clutch pedals and instead prefer non skid coarse sandpaper on the pedal surface. |

I know many like the Momo Prototipo and/or Mod 07, but I like the SC wheel better.
With the spacer, it's a perfect steering wheel for me. I have a line on an aluminum one (928?) that I will install once I get it. It all comes down to personal preference I suppose.. Rancho Santa Fe cars and coffee had a great Porsche contingency yesterday, I should have taken more pictures. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1618155927.jpg |
