06 E350 Radiator Hose Clamp Releases
I need to remove a radiator hose but it has some kind of hose clamp I have never seen before. I checked the manual but don't see an easy way to release them. I'd like to remove them so I can re-use them, if possible.
Thanks!! Happy Easter! |

You mean it is a 2006 Mercedes? You are obviously posting on the wrong forum. Although, had you included a picture, some of us here might be able to offer an opinion.

I'm sorry gang! I also have a 911 and forgot to look to see which forum I was on. Sometimes I get focused on my task and end up with tunnel vision!
Thanks for the re-direction - No water? No radiator? ;-) Larry |

Thanks Joe! I went out and looked at it more closely and found a clamp I could see more easily. It looks like I can push a thin screw driver under the wire and lift the clamp up and back. I believe it will come off with little trouble. I appreciate your reply Joe! I need to put a container under the hoses to catch the fluid that will pour out. I'm removing the Alternator and everything is harder than it looks at first. I will need to remove one end of the rad hoses to provide room for the alternator. When I tried pushing the hoses out of the way, they just refused to push far enough out of the way for the alternator to fit past the hoses and engine (naturally). So l
left everything where it was and did some research. It seems the suggested method is to drop the Alternator down past the suspension, but there is no possible way for it to fit that way. That's when I decided I would need to remove a hose (at least one end) to provide enough space. Man! I thought working on the Alternator and starter on my 911 was tight! This W211 beats it in the difficulty factor by a country mile! I've always liked the ML but I decided no more MBs unless it's a diesel! We had a '91 300D we absolutely loved and would still own her if the rust monster had not eaten her! Great mileage and easy to work on with comfort and luxury all together! Loved that W124. Unfortunately I may have to give up my 911. After 4 failed knee replacements my clutch leg has gotten too short to effectively reach the clutch (they trim the bones a bit each time). I have been considering trading for a Tiptronic Cayman or 911.... Thx again - Larry 74 911 06 E350 |

Is it an Oetiker brand clamp? Just replace it with your run of the mill hose clamp from your FLAPS instead.
