Question Rear Swaybar - is there an optimal angle? (PIC INCLUDED)

Hi Pelicans - I have installed the passenger side rear drop link - Rennline adjustible, and I am seeing about 5 threads exposed between the jam nut and the eyehole of the link that connects to the swaybar.

My question - is the end of the swaybar too low? Put another way - should the part of the swaybar that runs parallel to the car be close to or parallel to the ground? I am concerned that the end of the swaybar is too low and may contact the ground. The bottom-most of the bar is about 4.25 inches off the ground. I'm not doing any off-roading, and although I don't mind shortening up the length of the link, but before I undo bolts, just thought I'd check in with the collective.

Thanks, Pelicans!

My Weltmeister adjustable rear sway runs low to the ground like that. Proper adjustment should be made by ensuring ZERO pre-load on the sway bar.

Park the car on level ground and adjust both sides equally so that each screw tightens with little effort into the control arm. That should be a good baseline for figuring the threads and jam nut height. .

Thanks for the reply. Definitely no preload on the driver side. I had my son sit in the car and I adjusted the drivers link to where the sway bar hole was lined up, almost precisely. I’ll torque to 61ft lbs (per Bentley) and see how she runs.

Best to get the angle between the sway bar arm and the drop link close to 90 degrees.

This 4 minute video is not Porsche specific, but explains and demonstrates some of the binding issues common with sway bar drop links:

I’m going to shorten up the links - the more I look at it, the more I think I do t want to risk catching something on the bar at speed. Will report back…

They look precarious until you remember they move up with the wheel over bumps.
But shortening them is fine as long as you’re keeping the preload out
