Samsonas is actually Lithuanian company and is very widespread around this part of the world, makes quality parts and is actually quite reasonably priced. Definitely worth checking them.

Thank you. Already contacted them. Waiting for a response. I will post once they reply

Just some SoCal Kudos for taking the fight with the H2O pumpers on the track to the next level.

Push, push, push, pace pace pace :D

Yes, unfortunately they don't have anything for my application yet!

I do believe Tuthill Porsche has built an aircooled rally car or two with a sequential. Might be worth looking them up and reaching out

Dan J 11-04-2021 04:34 PM

The ricardo sequential from a 991/1 cup is very compact ( and very good) I have a few and looking
at them next to a 915 they are very similar sized much smaller (and better) then the g50/holinger
unit from a 997 cup
It would be a complicated and expensive installation but it's a great trans
Matt are you making gears yet?

914-6 with 6 Speed Sequential

I'll take one.

I'm not getting any younger...;)

Following. ...at the rate I have my racing 915 rebuilt this might be a less expensive option!

Geneman 12-08-2021 09:46 AM

ME TOO. JMZ.. WTF! is it me or do these gearboxes just suck for racing. no matter how " gentle, slow etc " i shift. including good heel toe, i am getting 3-4 EVENTS out of 1 rebuild ( professionally done). not sustainable.

Put a 6 speed out of a water cooled 911 in it. You get a way better transmission, hydraulic clutch and a cable shifter.

:mad:I had 2 G50-01 race gearboxes, with cooling plumbing and short geared .... sold them thinking the 915 would be OK.....:rolleyes:

I do not think any of the 6 speeds from a water cooled car will fit without extensive structural work... but the hydraulics and cables are mighty tempting at this point......

Everytime i vent To Dan Jacobs ( Hairy Dog Garage, CT) about the 915s he tells me in his oh so gentle manner; GET RID OF THOSE FOCKING THINGS!!

Clay Perrine 12-08-2021 11:38 AM

I have a 914 with a 964 motor and a g86-21 transmission from a 2006 Cayman S in it.

The transmission handles the power from the 4.0L 964 motor with no issues, and it shifts great.

I don't know how hard it would be to put one in a 911, but nothing is impossible.

Those big G50 race gearboxes are great except that they are much less efficient than a 915.

Who is making an adapter plate and flywheel for that conversion?

Found this site....

https://www.transaxleengineering.com/

VW and Porsche type transaxles...some sequential for VW's....maybe it will work for Porsches as well?...Hmmmm!

Geneman 12-09-2021 09:39 AM

sc.... some amazing stuff on that site... really beefy off-road TAs ... they do not even list the prices for the Porsche boxes.. yikes!

Antonov 12-09-2021 11:18 AM

That car is seriously cool!

I get a full season out of my 915 and that is with ~430 HP 3.6L bolted to it. What are you doing to your box?
